As Chief Nurse Executive, my role is to support a nursing practice environment at CHRISTUS St. Michael that values the contribution of nurses in the overall pursuit of safe, quality patient care. CHRISTUS St. Michael Health System nurses are respected for their knowledge and skills, and are valued members of our health care team.
The development and enrichment of professional skills is encouraged and recognized. One example of this is our Councilor Model of Shared Governance where our professional nurse-driven Nursing Advisory Council offers opportunities to continually shape the practice environment.

Practice nursing as it was meant to be – providing holistic nursing care in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team. Rehab nursing is a specialty practice area of professional nursing. The goal of Rehab nursing is to assess the individual who has a disability and/or chronic illness in restoring, maintaining, and promoting his or her maximum health.
Rehab nurses believe individuals with functional limitations have intrinsic worth that transcends their disability and/or chronic illness.
As a Rehab nurse, you are a member of a diagnostic interdisciplinary team consisting of Rehab nurses, Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Pathologists, Case Managers, and Rehab Physicians.
